The team at NewSpring Worship reached out wanting something abstract for their Altars EP cover. A lot of the music was focused on how the woman anointed Jesus with oil by breaking a a jar of oil at his feet as an act of worship, and they wanted that to be represented in the artwork.

So, in Cinema 4D, I modeled a clay jar. I then used fabric simulations and a Voronoi texture with physics simulations to get the pieces breaking upwards along with the fabric flowing to symbolize the story and concept of worship. Lastly, I applied a gold metal texture to the fabric simulations to represent oil but look more viscous and solid. I also animated a version of this artwork for Spotify and social media promotion.
